On this eve of the greatest inauguration in modern history, days after "the miracle on the Hudson," so needed to give us hope in what is possible, a tangible metaphor for all that is to come. I feel renewed, reborn, I feel almost invincible, I feel a part of this new nation, strong, unrelentless in pursuing a vision of a country united, free, ready to overcome any challenge thrown our way. I feel moved, stirred, proud, like I am part of the greatest democracy in the world of the dream and its realization, I feel like I belong like I am home. I have arrived finally where I want to give the most I can give back to this nation to its children and their children to its neighbors and friends around the world. I know now, we can do it together. I believe.

Good News-Finally! Miracle on the Hudson

I have been walking around lately saying how I needed to hear some good news for a change. As it seemed that everywhere we turned something catastrophic was going on.

I heard someone say this today, "Miracle on the Hudson" and I thought, how true.  So many things had to have gone just right for everone to survive the plane landing in the Hudson river. How remarkable. I was moved to tears by the precision and heroism of the pilot and the crew and the rescue workers and passangers. It felt so good to know everyone was safe. I felt like I could close my eyes and exhale and think to myself life is so good.

I especially feel proud of the pilot, Sully, as they call him, as he happens to live in a town nearby in Danville here in Northern California. I am sure his welcome will be exceptionally warm, when he returns home.

Help For Homeowners H4H Program

While our lawmakers fight it out in Washington, we are fighting to stay in our homes and/or keep our jobs. If you are not in jeopardy of losing your home or employment or both, you probably know someone who is. Recently I have done a lot of research on this new program offered by the FHA (Federal Housing Administration).

The pros outweigh the cons, as you get to stay in your home and your payments and mortgage will be affordable and stable vs adjustable and out-of-hand.

Here is the list of top three catches involved in the Help for Homeowners H4H Program:

1. Your bank/mortgage servicing company has to agree to do H4H-although most should agree to it, since it will still cost them less than handling yet another foreclosure.

2. FHA will share in the equity that you might acquire over time.

3. You have to apply for the H4H program through an FHA approved mortgage company only.

UGG City

What's up with UGGs? They're everywhere. These basically UGGly simply stitched boots originated in Australia, as I found out today. As I came through a department store's shoe department today, I couldn't help but notice their apparent invasion. There are plain UGGs and color UGGs and those glamorous UGGs, any UGGs you might want. What a phenomenon a trend is. Who would have thunk it.  Although I have to admit, they're kinda cute. . .Just like puggs wait a minute; they even rhyme with puggs. What's next UGGs for puggs?

Mixed Nuts

Yes, I confess I have been addicted lately to watching CNN and other news channels on the economy and the stock market here and the world. But now I think I may have reached my breaking/exhaustion point between the election coverage and everything else, I am now on information overload. From the early morning hours when markets overseas open to the evening hours of late night TV, we are pounded with the "experts" advice on the situation, endless discussions, and pure speculation.

I think it would be a real shame if we lost The View over all of it, as Joy and Elizabeth battle it out every weekday. All I say is ENOUGH already! The plus of tuning in is that I am now up on all the gossip. Well there are rumors of fights behind the scenes of the View and so forth and so on. Ladies, it's not worth it. I believe in standing up for your beliefs, however, let's not lose track of what is really important here. Unity. We are one country for which we all want the best. Let's just vote, get over it, and pray for the best.

There are a lot of nutty stories emerging beside the news, and even the loud Money guy on TV had his week moment, when the market tumbled. He used to drive me crazy, but now that he wasn't screaming I listened to him. He probably wondered "Do I still have a job?"

I love it too when everyone always says that watching the stock market every day closely is a mistake. For those of you who still have something to watch, be careful, as the stock market points are on all of the news channel screens up to the second. I am telling you, I am going nuts.

I almost wish I could fall asleep now, and wake up on November 5th to hear the news of who our new fearless leader is, and wish him luck. As my mother says, who by the way voted already and with a passion, as did I, "Who really would want this job. It must be the toughest job in the world."
